How Does a Water Softener Work?

The typical water softener replaces calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions. As water enters the water softener’s main tank, it passes through resin beads that have absorbed sodium.

The calcium and magnesium in the water are positively charged and attracted to the negatively charged resin. They cling to the beads while the softened water leaves the tank for distribution through your New York home’s plumbing system.

The system must be cleaned every few days with salt water to recharge the resin beads and remove the mineral deposits. A separate tank holds salty water for the cleaning and recharging process, and connects to the main softening tank. A valve controls the amount of water used during cleaning and recharging.

The sodium tank typically can be refilled with salt pellets. Some softening systems use potassium rather than salt.

I can say that he did his honest best and gave me 2 quotes which I could swing. There was a payment plan available on there website if I wanted that route. I feel that this company has excellent customer service. They chose wisely with David and Anthony that partnered him on the large job that was done in a day. I recommend this company and ask for these 2 men as they are the best when I was seriously overwhelmed.
